It’s been awhile since I posted here, but we have had no shortage in little projects this summer. My most recent efforts have been focused on making signs using my new Cricut Explore Air 2. I don’t know what I did before this machine, but I’m having such a good time with it! From designing decals for onesies and and yeti cups to printing out stencils for farmhouse signs, I am absolutely hooked! I wanted to share a few of the signs that I’ve made so far. First, my favorite:
I’ve seen signs like this all over Pinterest and with a little chalk paint, wood scraps and my cricut it was pretty easy to make.
Here is another favorite in the same style:
After making these, Jess decided she wanted a sign above her whiskey table in our living room. This was a fun sign to create because my canvas was an old wooden crate that Jess had acquired. The vinyl stencil I created didn’t stick very well so I decided to do the sign in chalk. Once I had it done in chalk I realized I liked the way it looked so much I wanted to keep the chalk finish. After a little research, I found that I could keep the chalk from smudging by using an aerosol hair spray. Here is the finished product:
Finally, I wanted to make something for our living room shelf (see DIY Large Floating Shelf from the blog about a year ago) I decided since we are crazy dog people to do a sign dedicated to our favorite four-legged family members and I realllly love this sign.
If you’re a crafter and on the fence about getting a cricut, I highly recommend it! I’m looking forward to exploring the many features and branching out beyond signs.
That’s all for now! Just wanted to check in and let you know what I’ve been up to!
